Most patients benefit from being sedated during gastroscopy. At Barrie Endoscopy the sedation is administered by an Anaesthesiologist. Agents such as Propofol, Midazolam, and Fentanyl will be administered. You will be comfortable during the exam and will likely not remember any aspects of the exam because of the anaesthetic effects of the agents. You will recover quickly though, and be awake and alert to discuss the findings of the exam with your doctor prior to being discharged.
