If polyps are detected or if any abnormality is encountered during the procedure, it can usually be dealt with at that time. Polyps are removed usually by grasping them with a forceps, or snaring them with a small snare device and then removing them. Polyps can be retrieved and will be sent for analysis. If abnormal tissue is identified, biopsies can be obtained and sent for analysis. Subsequent interval that you may require an additional colonoscopy will be determined by the presence of polyps and their number and size.
Patients will be contacted by Barrie Endoscopy directly if there are unexpected or worrisome findings from the analysis of Polyps.
