You will be monitored and observed in a recovery bay for a period of time after your colonoscopy. When you are awake and stable, you will be discharged. You will require a ride home, as you will be unable to drive that day. It is recommended that you have adult supervision at home after receiving sedation for your procedure. You should be able to resume a normal diet. Your doctor will speak with you that day and the clinic will contact you by telephone afterward if there are any concerns; for instance regarding polyps removed or biopsy obtained during the procedure. Your family doctor will receive a full report of the results of the colonoscopy.
