In September of 2007, ten local physicians established Barrie Endoscopy. Our goal is to provide enhanced access to state of the art, expert, endoscopic care, in a comfortable, safe, out of hospital setting.

The Barrie Endoscopy team currently consists of eleven endoscopists (4 Gastroenterologist, 7 General Surgeons), a highly qualified group of Anaesthologists, excellent endoscopy nurses, and an administrative team led by our Clinic Manager, Pat Brooks.

These doctors are currently performing endoscopies at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. Waiting lists were growing and expansion of existing endoscopy facilities at RVH was limited. Barrie Endoscopy physicians felt that an out of hospital facility would be well suited for screening colonoscopies, in healthy individuals.

Patients with intestinal disease, those with complicated medical conditions and those who require specialized procedures will continue to have their procedures performed at Royal Victoria Hospital by these same physicians. Barrie Endoscopy is a privately operated facility but we have a close partnership with Royal Victoria Hospital. In fact, we share a common procedure and monitoring system for quality care issues and infection control policies. All physician partners at Barrie Endoscopy have active staff privileges at RVH.

Since this out of hospital clinic is new to our region, and quite a new concept in the Canadian medical landscape, we would appreciate feedback especially from patients and referring physicians. We are committed to continuing our current high standard of care and also, to improving the way in which we provide these services.
